The above symbol represents IOGKF’s Kenkon or emblem. This symbol was Miyagi Chojun Sensei’s family crest. Miyagi Chojun Sensei’s family gave Higaonna Morio Sensei permission to use this symbol as the IOGKF’s emblem to signify IOGKF’s position as the organization that truly inherited Miyagi Chojun Sensei’s Goju-Ryu Karate.

The above Kanji characters represents the full name of our karate style, Okinawan Goju-Ryu. The first two characters combine to mean Okinawa. The the third character is read as “Go” meaning “Hard”, the fourth character is read as “Ju”, meaning “Soft”, and the last character is read as “Ryu”, meaning “Style”. Our style’s name, Okinawan Goju-Ryu literally means “The Hard-Soft Style from Okinawa”.
