Yoshimura Aji Choki (義村 按司Chinese name Sho-meitoku (向明德). 4th generation Udun(Royal descendant) of the Yoshimura family, a scion of the founder of the Sho dynasty of the Ryukyu Kingdom. He was the second son of Yoshimura Udun Chomei who was Kanryo Sensei’s benefactor. In 1897 when his father Yoshimura Udun Chomei and elder brother Yoshimura Aji Choshin renounced their aristocratic titles and remained in China. Yoshimura Choki assumed their place as the head of their family in Okinawa and the title of Udun.

Yoshimura Choki began learning karate privately from Matsumura Sokon and Kanryo Higaonna Sensei when he was only a teenager. He later continued to train as a student of Kanryo Higaonna Sensei when Kanryo Sensei began teaching in Naha-City Commercial School. He made his living as a tea merchant and owned a hat-making business. In his later years he relocated to Osaka and devoted his time to writing, painting and karate. He was killed in an American air-raid in 1945 at the age of 79.

In 1981 the Okinawan Prefecture Muesuem held an art exibition of his works.
